" Most of the Old School Party Flyers were Designed By Buddy Esquire and Phase 2. Phase 2 was a real big Aerosol Artist who wrote on allot of the NYC Trains who also did a majority of the Party Flyers back then. Buddy Esquire was a regular Artist who did allot of party flyers as well.

These Cats Worked on big Art tables and had all the tools to make these flyers by hand including those Rub on Letters, wax Machines, exacto knives, Graph Paper and many other tools that are extinct today in the modern artwork world. " dustykid originally post this on soulstrut.com, 07 oct 2004.

Audio graffiti ! What the hell is that !

A new eccentric way to express yourself in the streets using audio tapes and a modified tape player. Stick the audio tape on a wall, then with the "playhead spray can" (the modified tape player) you are ready to listen to the hidden messages on the tape !!!
How these american students came up with that nerdy idea, i don't know, but i can't resist to post something here . The art of bricolage is always fascinating ...

Graffiti Research Lab

Another incredible project from The Graffiti Research Lab using a high-tech L.A.S.E.R. TAG system.
In its simplest form the Laser Tag system is a camera and laptop setup, tracking a green laser point across the face of a building and generating graphics based on the laser's position which then get projected back onto the building with a high power projector.

"Some years ago, the Dutch musician, sound artist and researcher started a tape collection by wandering through the streets of cities and suburbia, looking for leftovers, picking up thrown away tapes that otherwise would have been worn up by weathers and time to finally vanish completely.

On the Found Tapes Exhibition website, one can not only view photographs of his found tapes but also browse the contents of these revived Frankenstein style mix-tapes, but listen to and download their soundings as well. And from time to time, the artist invites the audience to live performances based on the acoustic treasures of his collection."

Jacob Smigel's Eavesdrop project

EAVESDROP : a wealth of found sound (80 min. on one CD) Curated by Jacob Smigel.
Eavesdrop is a collection of anonymous recordings found by Jacob Smigel at thrift stores, yard sales, and in trash bins over the past four years. Smigel waded through audio or micro-cassettes, 8-Tracks and home-recorded records to find tape letters, telephone conversations, audio diaries, weird field recordings, amusement of children,fights/crying, etc...
Eavesdrop focuses exclusively on this type of material, and instead of adding music to the clips Smigel served as preservationist (or curator) to present the listener with the most powerful recordings in their natural state. “Some are funny, some are ridiculous, others make no sense,” said Smigel, “and a few are so ‘perfect’ I can't believe I actually found them.”
Eavesdrop is 80 minutes, comprised of 40 tracks. The album includes 28 pages of track notes, transcripts, background information, and additional resources. Album art is a collage of found photos collected over the past two years. Each CD is stuff with unique found things.
