Oldschool Party Flyers

HIP - HOP
" Most of the Old School Party Flyers were Designed By Buddy Esquire and Phase 2. Phase 2 was a real big Aerosol Artist who wrote on allot of the NYC Trains who also did a majority of the Party Flyers back then. Buddy Esquire was a regular Artist who did allot of party flyers as well.

These Cats Worked on big Art tables and had all the tools to make these flyers by hand including those Rub on Letters, wax Machines, exacto knives, Graph Paper and many other tools that are extinct today in the modern artwork world. " dustykid originally post this on soulstrut.com, 07 oct 2004.

Slipper - Attack Of The Killer Lobsters (2006)

Slipper is a schizophrenic selection of soundtracks to films which had never been made !

: Spies

: Moon Trip (unreleased)
Slipper - Attack Of The Killer Lobsters (2006) [YANSR #15]
(Creative Common License)

Keywords: bizarre, exotica, psycho, jazz noir, cinematic, experimental.

Slipper (U.K.) has already made several albums since their first LP Invisible Movies released in 2000 on Aphex Twin's Rephlex Records

Attack Of The Killer Lobsters
is their 5th album, released on
YANSR (You Are Not Stealing Records) " a netlabel from Portugal created by Stealing Orchestra in 2001. The initial idea was to create a way to freely share ep's by the band or sideprojects but soon it expanded to other artist friends. So, you can find records from portugal but also from england, france, canada and what ever comes in. All free with covers, so you can make your own cd. "

Their last album Slipper v.s. Neil Sparkes and The Last Tribe will be out in February 2008 : Loungeclash !

LP#9 Georges Montalba - Fantasy in Pipe Organ and Percussion (1958)

Georges Montalba - Fantasy in Pipe Organ and Percussion (1958)

It sounds like an obscure fantasy to me, with titles such as Danse Macabre, Ritual Fire Dance, Theme From Scheherazade. And it becomes an even more obscure record when i read that Anton Lavey "could be" behind this record. Read more about the controversy here (churchofsatan.com) here (villagevoice.com). Nevertheless, it has been a commercial argument for my local vinyl record seller!

The Way Of All Flesh

" Yesterday at the flea market I picked up a small cosmetics case stuffed with photos almost all of which were of the same woman. The bulk of the photos were photobooths and portraits documenting her as she aged over the course of about 50 years or so. (...)
the dates where available are underneath each photo. Given the date of the first photo I figure she was born in late 1937 or early 1938. The last photo dates from the early 90s so she's somewhere in her early-to-mid 50s there. "

The Cousins - Kana Kapila (1961)

Uploaded by Thundernest.(check the Spotnick's videos he uploaded).

The Cousins come from Belgium and had been very popular in the early 60's. THe song Killy Watch in 1961 starts their career, they had been touring in Africa and later Argentina and finally the band had broken up in 1967 with a last concert in Belgium.
You can download this song here from an excellent "vinyl sharity" blog i've just discovered : Flash Athletic (blog in french)
Kana Kapila by The Cousins is also featured on Jungle Exotica vol.1 a compilation released in 2000 on Crypt Records
(Trivia) ...
A rock n' roll surf band from my hometown The Orientals had made a cover of this song in 2001.

Santo & Johnny - Sleepwalk (1959)

" Brothers Santo & Johnny Farina were born in Brooklyn, New York of Italian origin. In 1958 Mike Dee & The Mello Tones (Santo Farina, steel guitar; Johnny Farina, guitar and their uncle Mike Dee, drums) recorded a self-penned instrumental which they called "Deep Sleep". Loosely inspired by the song "Softly, As In The Morning Sunrise (Sigmund Romberg 1929), it had the same chord progression but a much simpler melody line.
"Deep Sleep" became "Sleep Walk" and in August 1959 it topped the American charts. "Sleep Walk" continues to be one of the most popular and easily recognised instrumentals of all time."
Thanks again to YouTuber Thundernest (a big fan of The Spotnicks)

I am kind of sleepwalking ...

Rob's precious founds!
He told us :
"
I found this record while walking down the hill from Prague castle last week. Someone had put a record player out on the sidewalk with the trash and this baby was sitting on top. Give it a listen. (I also found a passport photo on a trail out there but it disappeared somewhere between the Czech Republic and the US). "

BIG FAT DIRTY PARTY MIX by Baikinange

BIG FAT DIRTY PARTY MIX by Baikinange

" If you’re hoping for some memorably inappropriate behavior at your next get together—be it band camp reunion, motivation team building exercise, or costumed chili cook-off--you’re going to need a suitable soundtrack to get the inhibitions to disappear. Numbers like “Keep on Churnin’”, “The Wallop”, “Beaver Shot”, “I’m the Hunter, You’re the Tiger”, and “The Pump Song” ought to send the party mood in the right direction. "

THIAZ ITCH - Monkey Movies (2007)

An annoucement a bit late ...
My dear friend THIAZ ITCH 's latest album is out !

"After the creation of his (very) own Proot Records label, THIAZ ITCH is back on Bedroom Research with probably some of its best material so far : He gathered all the ingredients we like in funk, blues, breakbeat or early electronics and force them to have a big orgy full of all the fx trickery that his cpu can handle. Completely absurd and orgasmic. this soundfile gangbang will awake all your dying neurons."www.bedroomresearch.com
