Hank Mizell - jungle rock (1958)

I bought this Lp recently on a flea market. I found it shared by an excellent hillbilly oriented blog Uncle Gil's Rockin' Archive (the french version of the cover art is by Gerard Olivier) not extraordinary but good old classic rockabilly.

" One of the songs that he recorded was 'Jungle Rock' a fashionable up-tempo rocker. Released in1958, the single was not a success, but years later it was re-discovered and re-released, reaching No.3 in the UK charts in 1976. An album was also recorded, it features the smash hit with a batch of classic 50s rockabilly tracks. Recorded at Singleton Sound Studio, Nashville, Tenn. between march 22 and 31, 1976. "

The Cousins - Kana Kapila (1961)

The Cousins come from Belgium and had been very popular in the early 60's. THe song Killy Watch in 1961 starts their career, they had been touring in Africa and later Argentina and finally the band had broken up in 1967 with a last concert in Belgium.

60's asian a go-go beat

Hooray ! This morning i received a package from Japan : 3 CD-Rs samplers generously send to me by Mr Pretty Flamingo. Yes about 100 tracks of original 60's rock garage beats from asia for FREE. All he asks in return is that you do the same with your own favorite music , that's a deal ! His samplers are rips from original LPs and 45rpms , one of the samplers is dedicated to the Honk Kong scene.
I have to confess here that i don't have finish yet to rip my own 60's french a go-go beat records ... i am working on it, don't worry pretty, i will send the CD-Rs as soon as possible !
Now i know what some of you might say : why not simply sharing downloadable .mp3 files samplers ? My answer is because there is no better feeling than to open his mailbox in the morning and to found a little package from the other side of planet earth with unknown music inside !
