LP#15 Danny Delmin leshort/petit matin. 45rpm (196?)

A french pseudo exotic record, during the 60s a french obscure artist called Dany Delmin (hard to find infos about this guy!) he produced that 45rpm with a new music freshly imported from Brasil the PATROPI ?!! Never heard of that style before, you neither, well ... groovy bass, powerful horns, and a nice breakbeat! Are your ready for the brasilian patropi!

LP#14 KOKO : Le Nabout Twist - 45rpm (1961)

Another pseudo exotic found from the flea market, the very first 45rpm record from one of the most popular french singer! regretted Claude Francois under the alias of KôKô (koko), the record was a flop when it came out in 1961. So what ?!! Nobody enjoyed the oriental twist in the 60s, le nabout as he called it, now listen to Ali Baba Twist (originally written by Bob Azzam another great oriental rocker from Egypt who also wrote Mustafa (this song is availabe on this bl:og sing by Les Stereo's here) and discover Le Nabout si vous aimez twister!

LP#13 Henri Genes 45rpm (1956)

I found this 45rpm record last sunday at a flea market. Henri Genes is a french comic/operette singer from the 50's ... Well to say the truth he sings with a pitiful latino accent ... of course Dario Moreno is not very far or Henri Slavador to name the well-known ... the jokes are poor and the lyrics not better, but there is a sweet nostalgic flavor in his songs, my overseas friends will undoubtly appreciate it a little bit more!

The Most Unwanted Songs (25 min)

The men behind what they call "The Most Unwanted Song," conceptual artists Vitaly Komar and Alex Melamid
" The most unwanted music is over 25 minutes long, veers wildly between loud and quiet sections, between fast and slow tempos, and features timbres of extremely high and low pitch, with each dichotomy presented in abrupt transition. The most unwanted orchestra was determined to be large, and features the accordion and bagpipe (which tie at 13% as the most unwanted instrument), banjo, flute, tuba, harp, organ, synthesizer (the only instrument that appears in both the most wanted and most unwanted ensembles). An operatic soprano raps and sings atonal music, advertising jingles, political slogans, and "elevator" music, and a children's choir sings jingles and holiday songs. The most unwanted subjects for lyrics are cowboys and holidays, and the most unwanted listening circumstances are involuntary exposure to commercials and elevator music. Therefore, it can be shown that if there is no covariance--someone who dislikes bagpipes is as likely to hate elevator music as someone who despises the organ, for example--fewer than 200 individuals of the world's total population would enjoy this piece. Nini Raviolette - suis-je normale? (1980)

Nini Raviolette - suis-je normale? unique EP on Celluloid (1980)

Call it new wave, post-punk , minimal, synth pop, experimental, or whatever... this is truly a naive excentric gem from the extraprolific 80's in Paris. And she is an emblematic figure , transitory but cult though.

Available on the compilation: So young but so cold sampler (2004) [Tigersushi Records]
Her songwriter is none other than Alain Burosse (his website is not entierely working).

The Gun Club

Two excellent albums of The Gun Club a post-punk band led by Jeffrey Lee Pierce available in mp3 at lunchmeataphobia.
Alternative garage rock, blues, country, punk... don't miss their debut album Fire Of Love from 1981. A true unique sound that will influence later number of rock bands around the world.

I've been listening to the LP hundreds of times since i bought it (Thanks goes to Dr. K Delicatessen).
Mr Dantefontana from PCL seems to be in the same mood!
NOTHING TO LOOSE. You said it!

##UPDATE:
It wasn't Mr. Dantefontana but LEX-10 (also blogging over at
PCL) who wrote that post about The Gun Club.Sorry compadre!

" Phantom of the Radio is Right. (Maybe because he was born Toulouse)

I too have been listening to The Gun Club for the last 2 weeks. It must be some kind of PCL mojo.

Jeffrey Lee Pierce was better than Dylan:

In New Orleans at the Mardi Gras
I was dancin' in a costume made of straw
some creole boy was a-lying dead
I used his blood to paint my costume red
a-black and white, I will abandon brain
for your nerves in hand and a ball of string
the marshes are sinking in a bright red sky
and you will make love to me tonight
-Jack on Fire from Fire of Love

Go read P of the R's post over again. I hereby command ye.
But first a taste:"
